Frequently asked questions
Your questions, our answers
Intimate surgery, aesthetic gynecological surgery, cosmetic gynecology: are they the same thing?
These terms refer to the same family of procedures on the vulva, vagina and perineum. Depending on the situation, the procedure addresses functional discomfort or a personal request; the consultation clarifies this, and the framework (quotation, reflection period, coverage) follows from it.
What kind of anesthesia?
Local or general, depending on the procedure and on you; the choice is made at the consultation, with the anesthesiologist (anaesthetist) of the Clinique de la Muette.
Are there non-surgical alternatives?
For some concerns, yes: pelvic floor rehabilitation and gynecological laser, both performed at the practice, are systematically discussed before considering surgery.
Can several procedures be combined?
Yes, when the situation allows — for instance a perineoplasty combined with another procedure. Dr Gatri will propose it at the consultation.
Is it covered by health insurance?
Most of these procedures are outside the official schedule and are not reimbursed; some, performed for functional reasons, may be. Your quotation states it for your case, and the full framework is described under “What you should know”, below.
Where does the surgery take place?
At the Clinique de la Muette, Paris 16th, where Dr Gatri operates. Consultations before and after take place at the practice, avenue Mozart.
How do I book?
On Doctolib, with Dr Gatri, for a gynecological surgery consultation, or by telephone through the secretariat. Consultations are available in English.
