Labiaplasty — nymphoplasty, labioplasty, labia reduction

Reduction or reshaping of the labia minora — the most requested procedure in intimate surgery —, for functional discomfort (friction, pain during sport or intercourse) or for personal reasons. Performed at the practice, with the Fotona TimeWalker laser, in a single 45-minute session under local anesthesia (anaesthesia), with a check-up 15 days later — or at the Clinique de la Muette, by surgery, under general anesthesia, depending on the case.

Clitoridoplasty — clitoral hood reduction

Reduction or release of the clitoral hood, most often for functional reasons. Performed at the practice, with the Fotona TimeWalker laser, in a single 45-minute session under local anesthesia, with a check-up 15 days later — or at the Clinique de la Muette, by surgery, under general anesthesia, depending on the case. By laser, a few absorbable stitches are sometimes needed. The indication is established after examination and detailed information.

Vaginal tightening — vaginoplasty, colpoperineorrhaphy

Tightening of the vaginal walls — what the media call "vaginal rejuvenation" —, particularly after one or more deliveries, for functional purposes. Vaginoplasty is surgery, at the Clinique de la Muette, under general anesthesia. For mild laxity, the Fotona TimeWalker laser, at the practice, is a treatment in three 30-minute sessions four weeks apart; pelvic floor rehabilitation, at the practice, complements it. Hymenoplasty — hymen reconstruction

Reconstruction of the hymen. The request is received without judgment: the consultation begins with time to listen, before any decision is made. The consultation and the procedure are covered by medical confidentiality. French law prohibits any physician from issuing a virginity certificate (Article 225-4-11 of the French Penal Code, law of 24 August 2021): the practice issues none. The consultation takes place at the practice, 42 avenue Mozart; the procedure is performed at the Clinique de la Muette, after full information and a reflection period.

Perineoplasty — perineorrhaphy, perineal repair

Repair or reconstruction of the perineum (vulvo-perineoplasty), often after a delivery that has weakened this area. May be combined with other procedures depending on the situation.

Without surgery

Intimate discomfort does not always call for an operation. The practice offers two treatments performed in consultation, with no hospital stay, which answer many requests — on their own, or alongside a procedure: recovery after pelvic surgery, scars.

Risks and complications: what to know before deciding

Every operation carries risks; Dr Gatri goes through them with you at the consultation and gives you the CNGOF information sheet on labiaplasty (nymphoplasty) and vulvo-perineoplasty, which covers surgery of the vulva and the perineum.

• Common and not serious — you will feel a pulling sensation in the treated areas; it is well relieved by simple painkillers during the first week, and ice may be applied to reduce edema (oedema), the post-operative swelling. You may also see bruising — hematomas (haematomas) — appear, which then clearly subsides. With surgery, the stitches are made with absorbable sutures, which fall out on their own in the weeks that follow. By laser, a few absorbable stitches are sometimes needed.
• Rare — during the operation, bleeding or the formation of hematomas; very rarely, injury to nerves or soft tissues by compression. After the operation, the main risk is the wound opening up — dehiscence — if a hematoma forms; this most often requires local wound care, sometimes antibiotics and, rarely, further surgery. In the longer term, the CNGOF sheet describes necrosis of the skin or mucosa, rare and generally localized, requiring prolonged local wound care; pain during intercourse, exceptional and generally temporary; and altered sensation of the labia minora, very rare, most often temporary, and generally recovering within three to six months.
• What increases them — certain risks may be increased by your condition, your medical history or by treatment taken before the operation: it is essential to tell the doctor about your personal and family history and about all the treatments and medicines you take. The CNGOF sheet is firm on one point: strictly stopping smoking before the operation is essential in order to reduce the risk of skin necrosis and of healing problems, which are greater in smokers.
• Warning signs — when to call — after the operation, if you notice very heavy continuous bleeding, foul-smelling discharge, unusual pain or fever, contact the surgical team.
• The sheet you are given — CNGOF patient information sheet — Labiaplasty (nymphoplasty) / vulvo-perineoplasty, handed to you and talked through at the consultation, together with the written quotation and the fifteen-day cooling-off period.

Fees

Fees and reimbursement

Most of these procedures are outside the official schedule and are not reimbursed; a detailed quotation is sent to you by e-mail before any decision, to be accepted by electronic signature. For procedures performed for aesthetic reasons, French law requires a written quotation and a fifteen-day reflection period before surgery (Articles L.6322-2 and D.6322-30 of the Public Health Code); such procedures are subject to VAT. Consultation for surgery: €120 to €160. This consultation takes place at the practice: Dr Gatri examines your situation and explains the options. If a procedure is decided on, you receive a quotation and an informed-consent form to sign; a date is then set for the procedure — at the clinic for surgery, at the practice for laser.
