This is the website of a medical practice. What it says follows the rules of the profession: fair, clear and honest information, written to help you decide. That framework is set out here, once and for all, and applies to every page.

What this site is

Information, not a consultation

The pages of this site describe the care provided by the practice: what it is, who it is for, how it is carried out. They do not replace a consultation. Every decision — an examination, a treatment, an operation — is made at the practice, after examination, with the physician, and after the alternatives have been presented to you.

In accordance with the French code of medical ethics, this site publishes no patient testimonials, no comparisons with other practitioners, no before-and-after photographs, and promises no results. A medical outcome depends on each person; it cannot be guaranteed.

Treatments

What is known, and what is known less

The procedures described on this site take place at the practice, with its physicians, or at the Clinique de la Muette, with Dr Chaima Gatri. At the practice: consultations, pregnancy care and laser procedures; at the Clinique de la Muette: surgery, delivery and caesarean section. For most of them — gynecological (gynaecological) surgery, obstetrics, hormone treatments, pelvic floor rehabilitation, laser vaporization (vaporisation) of genital warts and cervical lesions — knowledge is established and covered by the recommendations of the learned societies.

For certain more recent treatments — gynecological laser for vaginal dryness, stress urinary leaks, vaginal laxity, early prolapse and scars; magnetic stimulation of the pelvic floor — clinical studies are ongoing and the learned societies have not yet issued recommendations. The practice offers them when they answer your situation, on their own or alongside another treatment, and tells you at the consultation what is known and what is not yet known. The other treatments — conventional pelvic floor rehabilitation, local hormone treatments, surgery — are presented to you at the same time; the choice is made with you.

Fees

Fees, quotations, cooling-off period

The practice operates under sector 2, non-OPTAM: fees are set freely, displayed at the practice and published on the pages Dr Gatri's fees and Dr Mahdhi-Basli's fees. Consultations, examinations and procedures listed in the official schedule are partly covered by the French health insurance (Assurance maladie). The practice applies direct billing to the French national health insurance (tiers payant): with an up-to-date carte Vitale, you do not pay that part upfront. What remains payable by you includes the excess fee (dépassement d'honoraires), which may be reimbursed by your complementary insurer (mutuelle), depending on your policy. Procedures outside the schedule, such as procedures for aesthetic purposes, are not reimbursed. A written quotation is provided before any procedure outside the schedule and before any operation. For surgery carried out for aesthetic reasons, French law requires a written quotation and a fifteen-day cooling-off period before the operation (articles L.6322-2 and D.6322-30 of the Public Health Code); procedures carried out for aesthetic reasons are subject to VAT. The practice complies with the obligations laid down by French law to allow every person access to prevention and care without discrimination.

The pathway

The pathway for a procedure

A procedure is prepared in four stages, from the practice to the clinic.

The consultation at the practice — Dr Gatri examines your situation, explains the planned procedure, its expected benefits, its risks and the alternatives, and answers your questions.
The quotation and the consent — you receive by e-mail an information leaflet, an informed-consent form and a detailed quotation, to be read and then accepted by electronic signature; no booking is made before your signature is received. For aesthetic procedures, French law requires a fifteen-day cooling-off period before the operation.
Scheduling — the date of the procedure is set at the clinic, and an anesthesia consultation takes place at the Clinique de la Muette before the operation. For a laser procedure at the practice, under local anesthesia, the date is set at the practice.
The procedure and follow-up — the procedure takes place at the Clinique de la Muette, as day surgery or a short stay depending on the procedure, or at the practice for a laser procedure; the post-operative consultation then takes place at the practice.
