And rehabilitation with a midwife or a physical therapist (physiotherapist)

Conventional pelvic floor rehabilitation, with a midwife or a physical therapist, uses a probe and calls for voluntary muscle work; it is covered by French health insurance, and Dr Gatri prescribes it for you. Magnetic stimulation is done at the practice, without a probe, fully clothed, in six sessions over three weeks. Both work the pelvic floor by different routes: the choice is made with you, once the examination is done.

Does the laser hurt?

Sessions are performed without anesthesia — under local anesthesia for labiaplasty and vaginal tightening —, and you leave right away. What you will feel during the session is explained at the prior consultation. One instruction afterwards: for 24 hours, no bath, no swimming pool, no intercourse.

Can I combine the laser and pelvic floor rehabilitation?

Yes. Both are performed at the practice and go together where the situation calls for it: rehabilitation works the pelvic floor muscles, the laser treats the mucosa and the vaginal walls. A laser session often accompanies surgery, before or after it. Dr Gatri sets the order and the pace with you.

How long does it take?

The laser protocol consists of three 30-minute sessions, with the interval set by Dr Gatri according to the indication; for vaginal tightening they are four weeks apart. Magnetic stimulation consists of six sessions of 20 to 30 minutes over three weeks, two a week.

Do I have to decide today?

The first visit is a prior consultation: Dr Gatri examines you, establishes the indication, informs you about the treatments and their alternatives, and gives you a written quotation. You then decide in your own time. For a procedure with an aesthetic purpose, French law requires a written quotation and a fifteen-day reflection period.

Is it covered by health insurance?

The consultation with the doctor is covered by French health insurance under sector 2 (non-OPTAM) terms; rehabilitation with a midwife or a physical therapist is covered as well, on prescription. Depending on the indication, some laser procedures are covered by the Assurance maladie; functional or comfort treatments and magnetic stimulation sessions are outside the official schedule. The quotation states it for your case.
